Our story…

As Bilbo Baggins once said, “I’ve put this off for far too long.” Last year, I arbitrarily set the goal of $10k raised for the Forrest Spence fund, in Ruthie’s memory. We raised over $11k! This resulted in financial acts of mercy for families living through hell on Earth… utility bills paid, groceries purchased, gas purchased, all for people with sick children. Some of the children survived. Some didn’t. But their families all experienced compassion from the Forrest Spence Fund, thanks to your generosity. A year later, it is time to do it again. Selfishly, I have delayed registering. Why? Because talking about Ruthie is hard. Sharing this pain with friends and strangers feels very vulnerable. Each post triggers grief, with somewhat frequent regularity. The root of the pain and discomfort, however, is my love for her. I believe there is no good that can come from her death that would outweigh this loss. I also believe it is worse to not put my finger on the scale, if any suffering can be eased from it. So here we are again, a year later, putting our fingers on the scale, and continuing to pray for comfort from the great Comforter. Feel free to share on your social accounts. Call your friends and family who are influencers or who have lots of followers. I’ll put the links in my bio again, for convenience.

All my love,

Louis
